Form:

4-12 inches tall, a single erect stem with flower at tip

Leaves:

One flat leaf clasps stem at base and grows about as high as flower

Flower:
|
Generally white, sometimes lavender-tinged. Petals sharp-pointed
|
and fringed with hairs. Purple crescent at base of each petal above the nectar gland. About I to 1 1/2 inch across.
|
Habitat:
|
Douglas fir and Ponderosa pine forests.
|
|
Season:
|
Late spring (May-June)
|
