Somewhat fleshy annual 2-15 inches tall.

Leaves:
|
Many basal leaves spatula shaped to oval with long stems;
|
upper flowering stem has a pair of leaves joined into a single
dish-like leaf below the flowers.

Flowers:
|
White to pinkish. 5 petals and 2 sepals, several nodding
|
flowers in a cluster above the leaf disk.
|
Habitat:
|
Moist (in spring) open to shady woods and thickets.
|
|
Season:
|
April-July.
|
