Redstem Ceanothus, Buckbush
(Ceanothussanguineus)

Form:
Erect deciduous shrub 3-9 feet tall , smooth reddish-purplish bark.
Leaves:
Alternate, oval, thin, 3 main veins branching from leaf base and a
pair of stipules at base of each leaf stalk.

Flowers:
Tiny and white in dense fluffy clusters at branch ends.
Fruits are hardened three-lobed capsules containing shiny brown seeds.

Habitat:
Dry to moist open forests and clearings.
Season:
Blooms May-June.
