Showy Aster (Aster conspicuus)

Form:
16-30 feet tall. stout, erect, branching at top.
Leaves:
Alternate, thick rough and course toothed, to 6 inches long.
Flpwers:
Showy heads of many light purple ray petal flowers to
1 inch across. A golden button center.

Habitat:
Course soils in open forests east of Cascades.
Season:
Late summer (August, September)
