Silky Lupine
(Lupinus sericeus)

Form:
1-3 feet with simple or sparingly branched stems from a
branching woody crown. Covered with silky, silver to rust colored hairs.

Leaves:
Palmately compound, mostly on stem, stalks longer than
leaflets. 7-9 leaflets appear greyish-green from hairs covering both sides.

Flowers:
Pea-like, deep blue to lavender, with whitish to yellowish
markings at base of wing petals. Banner petal is hairy on back.

Habitat:
Open Ponderosa forests, dry grasslands.
Season:
Late May-June.
