Silvercrown, Cut-leaf Luina

Form:

To 4 feet tall, stout erect stem. Plants quickly wither and
|
disappear by mid July.
|
Leaves:
|
Long-stemmed basal leaves looking like dissected maple
|
leaves, palmately veined. Up to 10 inches wide. These large leaves
appear mid April to May.

Flowers:
|
A loose arrangement at stem tip. Rather bristly, bright
|
yellow flower about 1/2 inch across. Held in narrow head
by 1 row of bracts. Fruits are a loose cluster of “dandelion” seed heads.

Habitat:
|
Open ponderosa pine-Douglas fir forests.
