6-24 inches tall. Stout stem mostly erect.

Leaves:

Usually three, situated near stem tip, broadly ovate,

2-6 inches long, wide, net veined.
Flowers: Very showy, solitary at stem
tip; three white petals which become reddish with age; petals 1-2 inches
long much longer than green sepals, 6 yellow
anthers highlight the center of flower.

Habitat:

Moist forests all altitudes.
