PONDEROSA COMMUNITY CLUB, INC
BOARD MEETING JULY 8, 2006

The meeting was called to order by President Jim Lawson. Also present were Roy Daggett, Judy Toenyan and Melanie Green.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

Secretary Report: A big thank you for the outstanding work being accomplished by out committees and chairpersons. Individual reports to follow. We have had several items stolen from the Ponderosa mail box. It cost us $20.00 every time we have to place a stop payment on a check, so if anyone sees something suspicious, please report it to a Board member. The pool has been vandalized several times this year, resulting in pool closures for several days. There will be a short meeting after todays meeting to discuss the situation.

Greenbelt Committee: Bobbie reports that they have been busy. New garden around the fire house flagpole, thanks to Mary & Mike Bunney. Dean & Gina Wilkins repaired the bridge on Balsamroot trail. Lorelie Olson added more plants to the pool garden. Lupine trail was cleaned up thanks to Dick & Pam Nicklas, Mary Bunney, Judy Toenyan, Gina Wilkins and Bobbie Lambert. Work party on the fire safe zone was very successful. Current plans for the remainder of the summer include cleaning up Aster and Balsamroot, perhaps building a new trail off Primitive Park Rd and finding use for a chipper in the logging area. The committee recommends that we do NOT contract with Bonneville to maintain the powerline area. Report accepted.

Social Committee: Melanie reported $283.16 cash on hand. A big thank you to Tammy and Doug for handling the drive in movie night. The wheel parade & ice cream social was successful. Next on the agenda will be the BBQ and potluck to honor our volunteers after the Board meeting in August. Report accepted.

Treasurer’s Report: Judy reported cash received for the month was 13,507.72, which included 1,500.00 for water. Expenses totaled 64,851.76, with the big expense of 28,000.00 for the backhoe. Report accepted.

M & O: Roy reported that due to vandalism, water problems, and cleaning, we will not be able to keep the pool open 7 days a week. It was a good effort, but just didn’t work. The new hours will be 10:00 to 10:00 with Tuesday being the day to close. Report accepted.

Building & Grounds: Roy reported how hard the committee has been working putting in countless hours clearing the entire playground area, having the chimney inspected, working with pest control to eliminate the carpenter ants, and getting bids for fire extinguishers. A play structure has been purchased to add to the playground, which Bob Melson has volunteered to pick up rather than pay the large delivery fee. It will be unpacked and all pieces will be sealed to add to the life of the wood. Yellow stripes have been painted on the two large steps near the clubhouse door heading down to the pool. Nancy Melson added that she appreciates the quick responses from the Board, and Rick and Dan for their help. Report accepted.

Roads: The roads have been treated for dust control with the exception of one, which is scheduled for repairs to take care of water runoff. Report accepted.

Roy mentioned that the back room of the office is available for any committee meetings.

With its separate entrance, there will be no interruption to the important work being done in the office.

Nancy Melson suggested that a sheriff should be called if kids are in the park after hours and refuse to leave. Pam thought that barbed wire would deter them from climbing over the fence. Bad lighting contributes to not being able to recognize the culprits on the cameras.

A question was asked regarding the new backhoe. Roy checked out several that were available and paid $26,000 for this one, which had only 700 hours. It has been well maintained and Dan is a certified diesel mechanic to keep it running well.

Jim reported that a homeowner was requesting 1 water assessment for his two lots. We cannot honor his request. Regarding the easement across Greenbelt in front of the reader board, Jim has met with the owner and is assured that he will maintain that portion. Any road has to be 150 feet away from the corner according to the County. Pam is concerned regarding use of a walking t rail. It should pose no problem. Our attorney is checking the legality, as there seems to be a wide range of opinions.

Ombudsman: Bobbie Olson reported that all is quiet.

New business: Pam asked for an update on the new lots down by the river. Roy mentioned that water connection is completed. She is concerned about trees up above and wonders if they can be cut down. We have no control over what a homeowner can do.

Gina asked about the logging operation and if it will be cleaned up. It appears that we will do some of it ourselves and anyone can take logs with a permit.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted.

Judy Toenyan, Secretary
