SUMMER GREENBELT COMMITTEE & WORK CREWS FORMING!!!
Saturday, May 17, 8:00 a.m. at the Clubhouse
Your Greenbelt Committee will again be actively involved this Summer enhancing the community we share. It’s been a few years since I chaired this fine group and I’m excited to begin a new “season” of improvements. But who are we? What are we attempting to accomplish and how will we get there?
The Greenbelt Committee is a service group dedicated to the development, improvement, and enjoyment of greenbelt reserves. We also provide our membership increased awareness as to:
- What we own
- Where it is
- How we can use it
The committee consists of volunteers banded together to work toward the goals outlined above. From weekenders to full-timers, we meet one Saturday morning of each month (to be decided). Our meetings will be short (around an hour) and then we’re off in the Ponderosa to work on a trail project. If you’d like to join the committee, or simply “show up” for one of our projects, that’s fine with us! Feel free to contact me for more information: steve_malmstead@hotmail.com
SIGN POSTS MARK TRAILS AND WATER ACCESS ROUTES
Twin posts mark entrance points to trails. Go on a hunt! Find (and walk) Aster, Lupine, Pine Drop, & Blue Bell. We also have a river access lot on Saddle with blue caps that signal “water access”. Several sites have picnic tables. Those who walk all trails before June may join the committee free of charge!
ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING
We’ll hold our first summer season organizational meeting on Saturday, May 17th, 8:00 a.m., at the Clubhouse, have a cup of coffee (I’ll provide) and take a “walking tour” of the Ponderosa to determine improvement projects. Our goal will be to create a “rough draft” of monthly work projects for the summer and a firm project for June and set a Saturday date for our first work party.
NO GUILT COMMITTEE
I’ve enjoyed this committee because we understand busy schedules and know that some might not make all meetings and all work parties. That’s OK. We publicize all work parties well in advance and welcome those who can only stay for a short time to those that can work until dark. Just kidding – (we usually wrap up in the EARLY afternoon). If you’d like to meet some fun folks . . . and know how to work a rake, you’re welcome to join us! Hope to see you soon.
