Fire Regulations
Fire permits are available at the Fire Station or the Ponderosa Office for a 3 ft. x 3 ft. x 3 ft. fire.
See the sign at the Fire Station for a list of permit issuers.
The only way to obtain a fire permit is to go to the fire station,
look up a commissioner and call them to issue a fire permit.
Beginning in April, someone will be at the firehall on Saturdays to issue fire permits. Most fire permits are issued during the burnpile weekend, which is the week before Memorial Day. You may burn only unprocessed forest waste, no paper or garbage.
Burning season is usually CLOSED during the dry season. When the season is closed, there will be "NO CAMPFIRE" signs posted at the mailboxes and on the Fire Danger sign at the Ponderosa entrance.
Large slash burns up to 10 ft.
x 10 ft. are permitted from Oct. 1 - June 1 when you have a permit AND the burn site has been approved
by the Fire Chief.
